CLAF obtains financial resources from the following sources:
i) Annual quotas paid by member countries.
ii) Contribution from CNPq, through the CNPq-CLAF Memorandum of Understanding, equivalent to 10 Doctoral scholarships and Post-Doctoral fellowships per year, for Latin American students who wish to study in Brazil.
iii) Contribution from MCT for infrastructure and operating expenses of the headquarters, including administrative staff salaries.
iv) Since 1997, through the ICTP-CLAF agreement, ICTP allocates funds for activities supporting less developed countries in Physics in Latin America. In 2003, the ICTP collaboration added annual funds for cooperative doctorates between Latin American institutions.
v) Since 2009, through the ICyTDF-CLAF agreement, the Institute of Science and Technology of the Federal District of Mexico (ICyTDF) allocates funds for Master's, Doctoral, Cooperative Doctoral, Post-doctoral scholarships, and Scientific Collaboration Projects, with the aim of promoting the exchange of knowledge between students and researchers from Mexico and other Latin American countries.
vi) Donations from institutions and individuals.
