On November 6, Finep will host, at its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, the in-person seminar “High-Technology Procurement at CERN: Business Opportunities for Brazilian Companies”, aimed at promoting the participation of Brazilian industry in CERN’s international tenders (European Organization for Nuclear Research).

The event marks an important step in consolidating Brazil’s participation as an Associate Member of CERN, a status achieved in 2024. This new position allows Brazilian companies to compete for highly complex technological contracts in areas such as cryogenics, vacuum systems, detectors, electronics, magnets, and software. CERN’s annual purchases amount to approximately US$ 625 million in goods and services.
Brazil’s entry into CERN represents an unprecedented opportunity to strengthen the country’s high-technology industry and foster closer collaboration between companies and scientific institutions. The goal is for Brazil to become a key player in the field of “Big Science”, reducing technological dependence and expanding scientific sovereignty.
