The Director of the Latin American Center for Physics (CLAF) visited, on March 10, the headquarters of the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO). Launched in 2018 as an initiative of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), ANSO is an international organization headquartered in Beijing, created to support international scientific cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.

The purpose of the visit was to present CLAF and to gain a better understanding of this global cooperation platform with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as to explore possible avenues for collaboration between CLAF, ANSO, and the Chinese institutions it represents. The visit was attended by ANSO’s Executive Vice Director, Dr. ZHANG Shizhuan, as well as the officers responsible for international cooperation, Ms. WANG Zhongxiu and Ms. FENG Jingyuan.

According to Dr. Ulisses Barres, these initial discussions represent a first step toward coordinating potential collaborations between the two institutions, opening a new strategic avenue of cooperation—so far unexplored—between CLAF and China.
