Opportunities for Latin-American Cooperation in High-Energy Physics with CERN
14 November 2025
Auditório Ministro João Alberto Lins de Barros
CBPF, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

High-Energy Physics is a traditional field of research in Latin-America which is currently undergoing a singular moment of expansion as a result of the recent admission of Brazil as a new Associate Member to CERN and the nearing conclusion of Chile’s association process. These two events mark a profound transformation in the future course of research in this frontier field of physics, for the potential benefit of the entire Latin-American HEP community, and the broader scientific and technological development and integration of the region.
As an inter-governmental organization for the development of Physics in Latin-America, CLAF aims to contribute to this process by assisting the community in creating and organizing the necessary instruments for regional cooperation in the field, aiming to take the most from the opportunities available, for the benefit of the entire region.
In this spirit, the Symposium will convene members of the Brazilian and Chilean HEP community, together with government representatives involved in the process of association to CERN, to discuss current opportunities and plan future actions for supporting the regional cooperation in Latin-American HEP research.
